Overview
Noom’s food color system has been updated to better reflect the nutritional value of protein-rich foods. High-protein items like chicken and turkey are now labeled green to help you more easily align food choices with your goals.
What to Know
- The color update is designed to support protein-focused diets.
- Especially helpful for Noomers using the GLP-1 Companion or enrolled in Noom Med.
- Available to users in the English version of Noom Weight on iOS or Android.
- You must be on the latest version of the app.
Updated Food Color Targets:
- Green: 50%
- Yellow: 30%
- Orange: 20%
These updated percentages emphasize foods that support satiety and long-term success.
What to Do
To check a food’s color:
- Open the Noom app
- Tap the Success Kit tab at the bottom of the screen
- Tap Food Color Lookup
- Use the search bar or barcode scanner
- Each result will show a colored dot (green, yellow, or orange)
- Tap any food to view more details
⚠️ Note: Only foods in Noom’s food database will show colors. Custom entries, Noom recipes, or user-created meals will not display a food color.
To log a meal with voice or text (Describe Meal):
- Tap the Describe Meal tab on the meal logging page
- Type your meal or tap the mic icon to record your voice
- When you’re done, tap Done in the top right to process
- Review, edit, or adjust ingredients on the Meal Review page
⚠️ Note: You’ll be asked to grant microphone and speech recognition permissions (iOS only)
Tips:
- List ingredients and portions separately for best accuracy
- Be specific (e.g. “2 cups of spinach” instead of “some spinach”)
- Include brand names when logging packaged foods
- Tap the info icon (i) on the Describe Meal tab for more guidance
