How to Search for Foods or Use the Barcode Scanner

Overview

Noom’s Food Lookup tool and barcode scanner help you quickly log meals. If you can’t find an item, you can create a custom food entry instead.

What to Know

  • You can search for foods in Noom’s database or scan a barcode to find packaged items.

⚠️ Note: Not all foods or barcodes are guaranteed to be in the system.

  • If an item isn’t found, you can manually add it using the “Create Food” option
  • Barcode scanning is supported in both iOS and Android, but availability may vary depending on app version.

What to Do

  • Browse popular foods by color category (Green, Yellow, Orange)
  • Discover healthier swaps for foods in the Orange category

Database coverage: Includes foods from the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, and Germany.

Barcode Scanner

If you scan or search for a food item that’s not in Noom’s database, you’ll see a message prompting you to help improve the system. You can choose to add the item manually, but note that it won’t be saved to your recently logged list or appear in the database immediately.

If the barcode isn’t recognized:

  • Tap Yes, let’s add it!
  • Fill out the Food Name (required)
  • Optionally add Brand Name, Calories, and Serving Size
  • Tap Log in the top right corner

If you can’t find a food using search:

  • Tap Can’t find it? Let’s add it!
  • Enter the Food Name (required)
  • Optionally add Calories
  • Tap Log in the top right corner

Noom’s team is continuously updating the food and barcode database, so stay tuned for improvements in future app updates.
