Branded Medication Availability, Prior Authorization, and Appeals

Overview

Medication access can depend on pharmacy stock, insurance rules, and prior authorizations. Here’s what to expect and what to do if you run into issues.

What to Know

  • Medication stock varies by region and by pharmacy.
  • Prescriptions can usually be transferred if another pharmacy has your medication.
  • Prior authorization decisions may take up to 14 days, while appeals can take up to 90 days.
  • Your Care Team is available in the Noom app, manages the prior authorization process for you and keeps you updated about next steps.

What to Do

If your pharmacy doesn’t have your medication in stock:

  1. Call or visit other local pharmacies to check availability.
  2. If another pharmacy has your medication, ask to transfer your prescription. Most pharmacies allow you to do this by phone or through their website.
  3. If you’re unable to find your medication anywhere nearby, reach out to your Care Team via in-app chat to be connected with a clinician to discuss alternative options.

If you’re waiting on a prior authorization:

  1. Know that prior authorizations can take up to 14 days, though many are processed sooner.
  2. For updates, message your Care Team in the Noom app.

If you’re waiting on an appeal:

  1. Appeals can take up to 90 days for review and a decision.
  2. For the most current status, contact your Care Team via in-app chat.
  3. If your appeal is denied or delayed, your Care Team can support you and connect you with a clinician to discuss alternative medications if needed.
