Glucose Forecasting Feature

About the Feature

Glucose Forecasting gives you personalized, science-backed predictions of how your blood glucose may respond to a specific meal.

When you log a meal, Noom generates impact scores and a glucose response curve that show how your blood sugar is likely to change over a 3-hour period.

These forecasts are powered by scientifically validated models that consider:

  • The meal’s macronutrient composition (carbohydrates, protein, fats)
  • Your personal profile, including age, gender, BMI, and metabolic status (type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, or no diabetes)

Use Glucose Forecasting to:

  • Find ingredients that cause spikes
  • Identify which meals keep your glucose stable
  • Experiment with swaps that improve glucose balance

Feature Availability

The Glucose Forecasting feature is available to members who are:

  • Enrolled in the English version of the Noom Weight program,
  • Enrolled in the Noom Med or Noom Diabetes programs, and
  • Have the most recent version of the Noom app installed on iOS (13.41 or higher) or Android (13.4.0 or higher)

Forecasting is available for people with and without diabetes, with your status factored into the model.

Please note that this feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available to all users just yet. If you don’t see the option in your settings, it simply means it hasn’t reached your account at this time.

More About Forecasting

Forecasts are predictions, not real-time measurements. They estimate how someone with your general profile might respond to a given meal, helping you understand meal and ingredient glucose trends over time.

Noom’s Glucose Forecasting Feature will provide you with:

  • A Meal Impact Score (Stable, Elevated, or Spike)
  • Ingredient-level impact scores showing which foods drive the response
  • A glucose response graph showing expected trends
  • An info screen explaining how forecasts are generated
  • An option in Settings to enable or disable forecasting

This feature is not a medical device and should not be used to make medical decisions.

FAQs

How do I access Glucose Forecasting?

  • Ensure your app version is 13.41.0 or higher.
  • The feature must be available for your program or client.
  • If eligible, it’s either enabled automatically or available to turn on in Settings → Blood glucose prediction settings → Toggle the switch ON or OFF

What do “Stable,” “Elevated,” and “Spike” mean?

  • Stable: Gentle rise (<77 mg/dL). Common in meals rich in protein, fiber, and healthy fats.
  • Elevated: Moderate rise (77–121 mg/dL). Typical of balanced meals with moderate carbs.
  • Spike: Rapid, high rise (≥122 mg/dL). Often seen with refined carbs or added sugars.

Why doesn’t my forecast match my glucose monitor or CGM?

Forecasts are predictions, not real-time measurements. They estimate how someone with your general profile might respond to a given meal. Differences can occur due to:

  • Your fasting glucose
  • Previous meals
  • Timing, stress, activity, sleep, hydration, and other individual factors

Forecasts are not for medical decision-making and should never replace your glucose tracking.

❌ Why isn’t my prediction showing up?

To generate a forecast, you’ll need:

  • An internet connection
  • Complete macronutrient info for all foods in your meal

If nutrition data is missing (common with custom foods), the forecast can’t be generated. You’ll see a message explaining the issue and can try logging similar foods with complete data.
