Track Your Progress with Body Scan

Overview

Body Scan is an in-app tool that provides a 3D view of your body, detailed measurements, and a personalized health report to help you stay on track.

What to Know

The Body Scan feature is available to most Noomers using the English version of Noom Weight or Noom Med (iOS version 12.38.1+ or Android 12.38.0+).

The Body Scan feature is not available to:

  • Users in the U.K. who signed up before 5/5/2025
  • Users in the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
  • Employer-sponsored CareFirst members in the DPP program

CareFirst members:

  • Noom Weight – Body Scan available
  • Noom Med – Body Scan available
  • DPP – Body Scan not available

What to Do

To access Body Scan:

Existing Noomers (signed up before Oct 9, 2024)

  1. Update your app to the latest version.
  2. Tap the Start Your Body Scan task card in the Today section.

New Noomers (signed up Oct 9, 2024 or later)

  1. Complete the Learning to Love the Scale or The Importance of Maintaining Muscle Mass article.
  2. Look for the Start Your Body Scan task card in the Today section.

If you don’t see the task card:

  1. Tap the Health tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Body Scan Report to launch the scan.

To complete a scan:

  1. Tap the Start Your Body Scan task card.
  2. Tap Continue and follow the on-screen steps. When complete, tap Continue again.
  3. Once processed, your report will appear under Health Report Generated on the home screen.

Scan setup tips for best results:

  • Position your phone at waist height facing you.
  • Stand in a well-lit space, with a blank background.
  • Wear tight-fitting clothes.
  • Keep hair off your face and shoulders.
  • Stand straight with arms slightly out, feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Stand straight with arms out and slowly rotate 360º with the countdown: at 5 seconds, your back should face the camera; at 10 seconds, you should be facing it again.

Need to Know More?

Q: What does the scan measure?

  • Body fat %
  • Fat mass (lbs)
  • Lean mass (lbs)
  • Body measurements: waist, hips, chest, arms, legs
  • Waist-to-height ratio
  • 3D avatar comparison (current vs. goal weight)

Q: Where can I view my reports?

  • From the Health Report Generated card on your home screen
  • From Health > Personalized Health Reports
  • Through a push notification after the scan. You’ll also get a scan reminder every 2 weeks.

Q: What if the scan doesn’t work?
A: Common scan issues include:

  • Cluttered or dim space
  • Clothing too loose
  • Hair covering shoulders or face
  • Spinning too fast or slow
  • Pets, kids, or extra people in frame (including posters or mirrors)
  • Weak internet connection
  • Your pose. Be sure to stand straight, with feet shoulder-width apart, and your arms out slightly in an A position.

Q: Can I hide the Body Scan feature?
A: Yes. After tapping the task card, you can:

  • Hide for today: This hides the task card for the rest of the day 
  • Hide for this week: This hides the task card for the rest of the day and the next 6 days

You’ll still be able to access past reports in the Health tab anytime.
